Castle Farm Training

Training

Castle Farm Livery & Cross Country is an Outreach Centre for Bridgewater College

We can offer FREE NPTC Work Based Diplomas in Horse Care and Riding.

We run level 1, 2 & 3 courses, available to anyone over 16 years old, (with no upper age limit) providing they are not already on a training course.

At the Centre, in Wickwar near Wotton-Under-Edge, we have great training facilities and a friendly professional team who can help you build a program to suit your needs.

The courses are suitable for anyone with an interest in horses; from school leavers wishing to get a step up onto careers ladder, to mature students wanting to expand their CV.

You will cover a range of topics to enable you to work safely and effectively with horses.

The courses are made up of a mix of compulsory and optional units which enables you to tailor your course to suit your interests.

Subjects vary depending on the level including: Daily care, Minor Ailments, Plaiting & Trimming, Lunging & Long Reining, Bandaging, Loading, Bathing & Tack cleaning as just a few examples.

All training and assessments are practically based while working on the yard; there are no exams at the end of the program. Time will be spent building a portfolio to provide evidence of your knowledge, with full support from Castle Farm tutors.

The Level 1 takes from 6 – 12 months approximately

Level 2 Diploma is a maximum of 12 months

Level 3 Diploma can take up to 2 years

All time scales depend on how many hours you are participating per week
